Migration Film Festival screening Iran-US ‘Vida’

The International Migration Film Festival in Turkey has been screening Iran-US short title ‘Vida’.

Directed by Bita Elahian, the 10-minute flick is about the US President Donald Trump’s travel ban imposed on many Muslim countries, especially Iran, in 2017.

Just as this ban came into action, a mother of Iranian origin, Vida who lives in the US, was going to the airport to welcome her daughter.

Vida couldn’t meet her daughter because they sent her back to Iran without even giving a chance to intervene.

Nothing would be the same anymore and a week later the events started to take a different shape.

This is a true story about Trump’s immigrant policy and the way his decision affects a family.

Brian Reilly, Michael Ralff, Flavia Foukas, and the director Elahian are on the cast list of the short title.

‘Vida’ has received honors such as the award for Best Fictional Short Movie at the Indie & Foreign Film Festival in the US.

The International Migration Film Festival invites everyone to reassess the contributions of migration to the civilization, the cultural impact between societies and the adaptation processes.

More than 50 films are on screen online during the festival and it brings together hundreds of filmmakers, press members, participants from non-governmental organizations and academicians from Turkey and across the world.

This year’s edition of the event is being held online on June 14-21, 2020.
